OATY

Are you right for Oaty?

Oaty didn't have the easiest start in life, but with time, patience and kindness, he's grown into a confident, engaging dog. The volunteers rate him one of the most intelligent dogs at the shelter! He loves training, especially scent work and puzzle games. He can be excitable coming out of his kennel while burning off energy, but settles into walking nicely on the lead and exploring at his own pace, staying focused on his person rather than other dogs. He prefers fuss on his own terms and needs people to respect his space; he can growl or snap if his boundaries are pushed, so he needs a patient adopter who understands dog body language. Kennel life was difficult at first due to past negative experiences with crate confinement, and though he's learned to cope, he'd prefer not to use a crate in his future home. He is muzzle-trained for grooming and vet visits and copes well with this among people he trusts.

Is Oaty right for you?

Oaty is looking for a quiet, adult-only home with few visitors and no visiting children, where he can feel safe and relaxed. A secure garden would be wonderful so he can explore and play, and he loves settling down with a favourite chew. He needs someone who will give him time to settle and enjoy learning together.
